The Twelve Gods of the Countryside

There are twelve Gods and Goddesses of the countryside who should be invoked by gardeners and farmers, and by all those who dwell in the country. These deities have power and influence over the weather, over the soil, and over the conditions that allow plants to grow and flourish. Ask for the favor and blessings of these deities when you plant crops or establish a garden. Ask these deities for their favor and guidance in living in harmony with the natural world.

These are the twelve gods of the countryside:

Jupiter, Father Sky, who brings rain, and fair weather, and fresh air

Tellus, Mother Earth, who makes the soil fertile and productive

Sol, the Sun God, who brings light and warmth with his blazing disk

Luna, the Moon Goddess, who lightens the night, and marks the passing of the seasons with her silver orb

Ceres, goddess of grain and wheat, and the food provided by the farm

Liber, god of fertility, and the nourishing drink that comes from the farm

Robigus, the god who protects plants and crops from disease

Flora, the goddess who causes plants to flourish and flower

Minerva, goddess of skilled work and crafts, protector of the grove

Venus, the goddess who watches over the whole garden

Lympha, the goddess who keeps the soil moist so that the plants will grow

Bonus Eventus, the god of good outcomes, who brings success
